In this episode from the fourth season of a series made for and by Kiwis with disabilities, 30 disabled teenagers from across New Zealand experience four days and nights on the ship Spirit of Adventure. As they sail around the Hauraki Gulf, the group take early morning swims, tick off cleaning duties, climb the rigging and hoist the mainsail. Their physical confidence is tested and friendships are formed. The teenagers also open up about their lives, trade stories and work together as a team. For Spirit of Adventure Disability Coordinator Joyce Cooper, the voyage is proof of the group's "abilities, rather than disabilities".
I think you deserve some lunch after that effort, mate.– Spirit of Adventure shipmate Tina Pick congratulates Nigel on climbing the main rigging
