In this 48Hours film, a loving young couple enlist a therapist to help expand their sexual horizons — in surprising ways. Throwing away the traditional three-act structure, director Kathleen Winter creates a short that feels part narrative film and part music video, seamlessly interwoven. Jebivetar is risqué and wholesome, whimsical and realistic, sincere and ironic, all at the same time. It also clarifies exactly what the title means, in an unexpected way. Jebiveter was a national finalist in the 2021 contest. Winter won the WIFT Outstanding Female Filmmaker Award at the Wellington regionals.
A rebellious and surreal film that breaks typical film conventions and breaks the fourth wall into a hypnotic celebration of individuality. Filmed on the windiest hilltops of Wellington with a group of flatmates and some friends, this film will surprise you. It surprised us and we loved it.– 48Hours national managers Ness Patea and Ruth Korver on why Jebivetar is one of their favourite 48Hours films
