Hosted by chef Anne Thorp, this cooking show brings together guests (some of them musical) with delicious, locally sourced food. Each episode Thorp invites a different guest or guests to share a meal, and "sing for their supper". She prepares simple, fresh, and delicious dishes using locally grown produce, with a focus on Māori cuisine. Filmed in her kitchens at her homes in Herne Bay and Pākiri Beach (north of Auckland), the show places as much importance on manaakitanga as it does on good food and great company. Kai Ora ran for three seasons, and was originally produced for Māori Television by Pakiri Productions.
