Kai Time on the Road

Kai Time on the Road premiered in 2003, the same year that Māori Television first went on air. It become one of the channel’s longest-running shows. Directed and presented for many years by chef Pete Peeti, the te reo heavy series celebrated food harvested from the land, rivers and sea. Kai Time traversed the length and breadth of Aotearoa, and also ventured into the Pacific. The people of the land got equal billing with the kai, and the kõrero is a major element of the show. Hāngi expert Rewi Spraggon took over from Peeti for the final two seasons. Spin-off book Kai Time: Tasty Modern Māori Food was published in 2008.
