With origins in bands Kids of 88 and Goodnight Nurse, Auckland collective LEISURE describe their approach as "keeping everything leisure", and their sound as "blue-eyed soul psych-pop". The five-piece released  self-titled album Leisure in late 2016; the first single 'Got it Bad' was a hit on SoundCloud. They were nominated as Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 2016 NZ Music Awards, and for Best Album and Best Group the following year. 'Got it Bad' got international notice after it scored a kiss on American teen TV show Shadowhunters.
