Truth can be stranger than fiction — which is certainly the case for Roy Arbon, the West Coast beekeeper who accidentally became a Brazillian drug mule in 2016. This short Loading Docs documentary explores how Arbon — a self-described "trusting person" — has fallen victim to numerous email scams. The scams have cleared his bank accounts and landed him in prison, but Arbon insists "you may as well die" if you change your personality, and his personality is to trust. Director Oliver Dawes interviews experts, Arbon's friends, and the man himself, and integrates live action and animation to tell this bizarre true story.
I did tell him if he got himself in the shit again, he's on his own.– Roy Arbon's best friend Graeme, near the end of this documentary
