[Marae DIY was a] great thing for the people of Manutuke. We did so much work, it seems so surreal – the wharenui, the dining room, the kitchen, the gardens, deck and courtyard. I walk around our marae today and think ‘wow I was part of this and I did this with my kaumatua, my whānau and my cousins’ and it gives you a buzz.– Matai Smith, Manutuke Marae
One of the most special things you can ever be part of is to see communities come together to enhance the one place they care about most. I always get a warm feeling when I arrive at a marae. And then to see the results achieved in a couple of days’ hard work is truly amazing.– Series creator and presenter Nevak Rogers
