Mikey Dam

Born in Hāwera, Mikey Dam grew up in Palmerston North. Originally he wanted to be a rapper, before discovering his singing voice in R&B. He began working with musicians in Palmerston North before moving to Auckland in 2017 to pursue his music ambitions. Since then he has co-written songs with many artists, including Niko Walters and Rory Nobel. In a 2022 episode of Waiata Anthems, he sang 'Somebody' in te reo; Dam was a judge on TVNZ's songwriting contest Take The Mic. Dam has been candid about his struggles with anxiety in his lyrics.
