Moon Jumper

Television, 1986–1987

Teen drama series Moon Jumper came from the pen of TV writer Julian Dickon (Sea Urchins, Pukemanu). Sixteen-year-old Nicky Wyman (Fiona Anderson) is disinterested in school, but passionate about her job at a wealthy neighbour's stables. Nicky saves a spirited bay mare from death row. With the help of the reclusive Snowbuck (Brian McNeill), she trains the newly named Moon Jumper into a show jumping champion. Joining Dickon were scriptwriters Ken Catran (who later penned horse-themed drama Star Runner) Wendy Jackson and Tim Harrigan. The show ran for two seasons. It also spawned three tie-in novels.
