Nancy Wake: The White Mouse

Television (Excerpts) – 2014

This docudrama explores the wartime adventures of Nancy Wake, aka 'The White Mouse', a glamorous and fearless WWll agent. When France fell to Germany in 1940, the Kiwi-born journalist joined the French Resistance, fleeing the Gestapo in 1942 only to parachute back into France in 1944 to help organise secret attacks. In this excerpt Wake (Shortland Street's Rachael Blampied) defies her husband, joins the resistance, and accuses one of its members of being a Nazi collaborator. The drama is intercut with commentary from biographer Peter FitzSimons and friend Jonathan Kinsella, amongst others.

If you love a ripping yarn, with a fair bit of danger, and a bit of sexy love story, it is perfect television really.
