...a simmering drama in the mold of Blood Simple or The Hot Spot.. ... [   ] Black gives a stoic lead performance that stands in marked contrast to the lead characters in so many Kiwi films, who can often suffer form a surfiet of passiviity,. Netherwood is essentially a man's film, but that's not to say it's exclusively for male audiences. Coming out of a screening, the enthusiasm and excitement from female moviegoers has been incredible. It has actually surprised us, the wide variety of people that have really enjoyed the film.
