@Steve Easthope, it is Ardmore. The event moved to Pukekohe in 1963, but Brabham's last win in the event was at Ardmore in 1961.

Fun fun! Very intriguing but why was it telecined at 25fps with pulldown, then deinterlaced? Every second it jumps... watch the pans. This is the web, 24fps is OK!

This is awesome footage for its age. Would dearly love to see more.
Working at Manfeild its interesting to see the level of safety barriers, or should I say lack of, compared to what is requried nowadays. I'm not sure the film commented on where in Auckland but presume this was Ardmore?

Fantastic. It is the first time I have seen any motorsport footage from these archives. There must be more around so can we please have some additional footage posted here for us to appraciate. The patronage at Hampton Downs earlier this year indicates that there is a large audinece keen to view historic motorsport films etc. Come on NZ On Screen

Fantastic ... thanks for posting this important piece of motorsport (and New Zealand) history. As stated below, there must be a lot more from this era. Hopefully 'NZ On Screen' can track it down, save it, and share more with us. Thanks again.

Superb. The lack of readily accessable archives on New Zealand motor racing makes a film like this even more valuable. Somewhere there must be many more films of this nature locked away in the vaults of petrol companies and the like. They all deserve to be aired.

Excellent — it was back to front in that Dunedin came three weeks after Ardmore, but who really cares. Rare and very valuable motorsport history. But how did they get the pronunciation of Denis Hulme's name so wrong? His father was a VC winner, so it's not as though the name was only known in motorsport circles — Allan Dick
