In May 2008 actor, writer and satirist John Clarke became the 25th person inducted into the Hall of Fame at Australia's Logie television awards. Presenter Wendy Petrie introduces this excerpt from the May 2008 ceremony at Melbourne's Crown Palladium. Clarke's longtime collaborator Bryan Dawe (Clarke and Dawe) invites Clarke onto the stage. Clarke's acceptance speech reflects the considered and humble approach he brought to all his work. The excerpt ends with shots of a young Bindi Irwin winning Most Popular New Female Talent, for her series Bindi: The Jungle Girl.
I’m inclined to regard this as a youth encouragement award. I’m deeply grateful and will do what I can.– John Clarke on being accepted into the Australian Television Hall of Fame, TV Tonight, 21 April 2021
