A charismatic stranger hits Auckland and sweeps a young woman off her feet. The romance annoys her friends, who argue that John is taking advantage. American-born Harold Brodie's first movie is a tale of romance, secrets and woozy nights. Christopher Brown won a 2003 NZ Film Award as John — his first starring role. In this clip he first meets Theresa (Emmeline Hawthorne), having just encouraged a stranger to drink themselves into an ambulance. Hawthorne (also nominated for her work) was then playing kindly nurse Anna Brownlee on Shortland Street. Comedian Cal Wilson plays Theresa's acerbic friend Kim.
