In this Pictorial Parade from 1965, three different regions of New Zealand — and three vastly different activities — are showcased. Firstly, the magazine-style newsreel visits the Canterbury high country, where members of Parliament admire efforts to restore native bush by deer culling. Then in Palmerston North, the fifth World Jersey Conference showcases a fine selection of Jersey cows. Finally, jazz dancing (inspired by the rhythms of the city), takes centre stage. A visit to a high school dance championship transitions into a dramatic performance from Kelston Girls' High School, in true Pictorial Parade style.

The climate and grass of New Zealand have helped to build up the dairy industry and prove butter fat production has established the superiority of the Jersey cow. It's not only beauty of line, but what goes into the bucket that most impresses the farmer.
