Born in Auckland's North Shore in the mid 1980s, Push Push took elements of LA hair metal and glam rock, and combined them with the energetic presence of singer (and future broadcasting legend) Mikey Havoc. Their infectious debut single 'Trippin'' spent six weeks at number one in 1991. But two further singles, and an eclectic album, A Trillion Shades of Happy, couldn't emulate its success. The band fell apart after Havoc decided he wasn't keen to relocate to Australia. Guitarists Andy Kane and Shayne Silver joined band GTO. A techno version of 'Trippin'' — by Miz Ima Starr and Baitercell — features in 1998 movie I'll Make You Happy.
