"Not many, if any ..." Aotearoa hip hop was turned on its head when Christchurch rapper Scribe burst onto the scene in 2003 with his debut single, 'Stand Up'. It shot to number one and stayed there for 12 weeks, helping propel his album The Crusader into the top position. The Samoan-Kiwi (aka Malo Luafutu) became the first local artist to simultaneously have a number one single and album. The Crusader sold more than five times platinum in New Zealand and Australia. His second album, Rhyme Book won Best Urban/Hip Hop Album at the 2008 NZ Music Awards. In 2015 Scribe created and starred in autobiographical play, The White Guitar
