Reality series Shearing Gangs "opens the door to the woolshed", and reveals the daunting physical graft and teamwork needed to lift wool off the backs of thousands of sheep. Over four seasons, the show focusses on an Alexandra-based shearing business run by ex champion shearer Peter Lyon and his wife Elsie. Each episode explores a new contract, as Lyon's teams deal with wild weather, tight deadlines, physical wear and tear — and the clashes that come with working and living side by side in stunning South Island landscapes.
