Martin Sagadin's second movie is watchable in full on NZ On Screen. Told in naturalistic, Before Sunrise style, it follows two women inching towards romance. Then one of them meets a stranger trying to find his hostel. Sagadin's adopted city of Christchurch is like a fourth character in the story. As the women (played by Alayne Dick and Illinois-born Hannah Herchenbach) walk and talk, the streets of the city take on different moods. Like Sagadin's first feature Oko na Roki, Spring Interlude was invited to screen at the NZ International Film Festival. Sagadin has directed videos for Marlon Williams and Aldous Harding.
Film is a way that I can bridge a gap between myself and other people. It's an extension of myself.– Writer/director Martin Sagadin on his approach to filmmaking, Stuff, 17 July 2019
