Alt-folk rocker Steve Abel wowed critics in 2006 with his debut album, Little Death. It featured a host of Kiwi musical talent, including Geoff Maddock (Goldenhorse) and Gareth Thomas (Goodshirt). Abel called on Goldenhorse singer Kirsten Morrell for one track: 'Duet (Lonely I Be)'. Little Death was named 2006's Album of the Year at the Alternatuis music awards. Abel went on to release Flax Happy (2008) and the long in development Luck/Hope (2016). He became a Green Party candidate for the 2020 election. As for Morrell, she sang and composed across three Goldenhorse albums, before going solo in 2010 with Ultraviolet
