Teremoana Rapley

In 1987 MC and vocalist Teremoana Rapley (aka Tere Veronica Rapley)  joined Upper Hutt Posse, whose music fuses reggae and rap. By age 15 she was one of Aotearoa's only female rappers. Later Rapley joined the trio of Polynesian vocalists in Moana and the Moahunters, with whom she won her first NZ Music Award. In 1995 she went solo. Rapley has performed around the globe. She has also interviewed musicians for magazine Selector, and worked extensively in television, co-hosting youth show Mai Time and directing for Māori Television. In 2021 Rapley was made a Member of the NZ Order of Merit, for services to music and television.
