The Big Experiment

Reality series The Big Experiment was born after director Charlotte Purdy tried out her friend's wheelchair, and realised that people treated her differently. She came up with the idea where people would learn what others go through, by experiencing it firsthand. Participants were mentored, made-up and given acting lessons, before setting out followed by hidden cameras. A builder was transformed into a woman, a woman into a man, a cheerleader given burn scars, and a man and a woman both changed race.
