The Casketeers

Hit series The Casketeers follows Onehunga couple Francis and Kaiora Tipene, who run two Auckland funeral homes. Fluent speakers of te reo, the couple incorporate Māori practices —  including karakia and karanga —  as they handle bereavements.  The Tipene Funerals team mix sensitivity with a sense of humour. The first two seasons won many international viewers when they were streamed on Netflix. In season four, Covid-19 impacts on how funeral services are handled. The sixth and final season debuted on TVNZ 1 in October 2023.
