The Girl on the Bridge

Film (Trailer) – 2020

The Girl on the Bridge traces two years in the life of mental health crusader and suicide survivor Jazz Thornton. Thornton is co-founder of Voices of Hope, a charity supporting young New Zealanders struggling with mental illness. The documentary records her mission to make a web series about Jess, a friend who took her own life. Thornton's honesty and communication skills make her a magnet for people in pain, and like many advocates she experiences vulnerable moments while fighting for her cause. Director Leanne Pooley won awards for her hit documentary The Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls.

Why is it easier to get pizza delivered to your house than it is to access a crisis worker when you're about to kill yourself?
– Mental health advocate Jazz Thornton voices her frustration at the lack of resources directed towards people in crisis
