The Girl on the Bridge traces two years in the life of mental health crusader and suicide survivor Jazz Thornton. Thornton is co-founder of Voices of Hope, a charity supporting young New Zealanders struggling with mental illness. The documentary records her mission to make a web series about Jess, a friend who took her own life. Thornton's honesty and communication skills make her a magnet for people in pain, and like many advocates she experiences vulnerable moments while fighting for her cause. Director Leanne Pooley won awards for her hit documentary The Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls.
Our generation is sitting here like, 'we're the ones that are dying'. And therefore we have to be the ones that will stand up and solve it, because no one else is going to.– Mental health crusader Jazz Thornton
