The Mountain

Raised outside her Māori culture, tween Sam (Elizabeth Atkinson) sets out on a mission to reconnect with her tupuna — Taranaki Maunga. Venturing out of hospital, Sam hopes scaling her ancestral mountain will also aid her battle against cancer. She joins two fellow misfits: Mallory (Reuben Francis) the new kid in town, and self-proclaimed runaway Bronco (Terence Daniel). Together they embark on an unconventional journey, discovering the power of friendship. The Mountain marks the feature directing debut of actor Rachel House (Hunt for the Wilderpeople), and the acting debut of its three young leads.
