Formed in Christchurch in 2006, indie pop band Tiger Tones won Best Breakthrough Act at the 2007 bNet Awards. In 2008 they released their self-titled debut album through Pinacolada Records, which was met with rave reviews. Groove Guide writer Sarah Gooding called it "A slickly produced affair of Rapture-esque quality”, referencing New York art-punk band The Rapture. Tiger Tones was James Grant, Mark Holland, Ashlin Raymond and Andy Frost.
