In 2000 songwriters Dave Dobbyn, Tim Finn and Bic Runga joined forces for Together in Concert, a tour criss-crossing New Zealand and culminating in a hit album and four nights at Auckland's Civic Theatre. This documentary is a video diary with relaxed backstage footage (with the musicians often playing cameraperson) and one-on-one interviews. The musicians perform a selection from their stellar back catalogues, including Split Enz track 'I See Red', DD Smash's 'Whaling' and 'Sway' from Runga's breakthrough album Drive. Things get raucous in Palmerston North with a 'dress up' version of 'Be Mine Tonight'.
Five minutes before you go on stage is one of my favourite times in life: there's so much adrenaline and fear and excitement all mixed up, it's a very strong feeling. It's a physical feeling and a mental and emotional and a spiritual feeling really, because I do believe that rock'n' roll is a healing sort of power...– Tim Finn on the moments leading up to doing a live gig
Includes performances of 'Whaling', 'Good Morning Baby, 'I See Red', 'Sway', 'Beside You', 'Good Together', 'Six Months in a Leaky Boat','Precious Things', 'Just Add Water' and 'Weather with You'
