An Age Apart

This 1980s sitcom focusses on three characters. Twice widowed Alice Hastings (Bridget Armstrong, from movie Middle Age Spread) is mother to a Māori son, Joe (Jason Piriri from kidult series Sea Urchins). Alice invites her cranky 65-year-old brother Walter Atheron) to move from England and live with them in Auckland. Walter, Joe and Alice navigate new relationships. Walter is played by British actor Deryck Guyler, who was a grumbling caretaker in secondary school sitcom Please Sir!  The six part series was directed by veteran comedy creator Tony Holden (A Week of It, Glliding On, Spin Doctors).
