Whare Māori

This 13 part Māori Television series looks at Māori architecture, exploring its unique buildings, history and relationships with the communities each building inhabits. Similar to the way 1984 show The Elegant Shed articulated a distinctly Pākehā architecture, Whare Māori broke ground for Māori design. Architect Rau Hoskins takes on the presenting role. Listener writer Diana Wichtel called the show "beautifully shot local cultural history through architecture". The first episode 'The Village' was named Best Information Programme at the 2011 Aotearoa Film and TV Awards.
