The Colliers are an amazingly talented and modest family.
Edith and Helen must be among their finest.

Thank you to those who compiled this beautiful documentary of Edith Collier she is truly a courageous women artist of her time. As a Whanganui artiste in the musical world it is always hard to decide when to return home to family duties.

I was pleased to view and share with my nephew the latest work "Village by the Sea" this morning. We were inspired by this glimpse into the life of a courageous women artist of that time. Wonderful... Thank you for compiling this insightful documentary and thanks also to Janet Paul for bringing Edith Collier's life to the attention of the New Zealand public. We need to be reminded of the jewels from our pioneering womenfolk from the past.

Dame Janet Paul worked hard to bring Edith Collier's work into the national consciousness. As a result, Edith Collier was not neglected by NZ's women's art movement in the 1980s. I remember helping curate a show of her work. And it's lovely to be reminded that this film, on this site, ensures that she's now unlikely to be neglected again.
