In fact, when TV3 (now Three) began its first full day of programmes on 27 November 1989, the first edition of 3 National News at 6pm (along with A Current Affair at 6.30pm) was preceded by half hourly news updates during the Early Bird Show (EBS) on weekday mornings. The first news bulletin was read by Joanna Paul earlier that day.
