This documentary recounts real-life survival stories of New Zealanders who have endured being lost in the wilderness — and takes them back into the bush, to learn skills that could save lives. Their harrowing experiences and rescue missions are detailed through news footage, reenactments and present-day interviews. Sudden weather shifts, treacherous river crossings and unexpected injuries led the survivors into life-threatening situations. Now, guided by bush safety expert Mike Spray the group learn crucial skills such as navigation, shelter and fire building, river crossing, and staying warm.
