In the late 1970s the comic mastermind behind the character of Fred Dagg left New Zealand for fresh work opportunities in Australia. Current affairs show Eyewitness News catches up with John Clarke in Melbourne, where he is carving a new career writing books and scripts, and holding politicians' feet to the fire with a slot on a Channel 9 current affairs show. Included are Clarke's brilliant takes on Aussie prime minister Bob Hawke and an American diplomat who just wishes New Zealand would "come back to the table".
