T. Burke is played by Arthur Chapman (1941-2004), my Father. I remember a number of photographs of him driving that tractor for shots that were cut from the the final edit. At the time of filming, he was the manager of the Christchurch Rehabilitation League. One of the people who worked for him did a caricature of him in the nude with the caption, "I know I said the League needs more exposure, but this is ridiculous." For various reasons, my Father never pursued acting professionally, but I think this short, but very funny performance shows that he was a genuine talent.

It was on this film that I met Don Duncan who was the bright young assistant cameraman. I was location manager, props art dept and general gofer - filming in an around my hometown of Christchurch. I went on to make my own films with Don as my principle cameraman. What fun we had making this comedy. A major shoot was in Akaroa on Bank's peninsular. We worked 28 days straight ! The Model A Ford was the only vehicle not to breakdown !
