Television (Full Length Episode) – 1994
In this episode of the popular 1990s series, presenter Gary McCormick travels the 200 kilometres between Gisborne and the East Cape Lighthouse, and meets Ngāti Porou and Pākehā locals who appreciate the stark beauty of their region. In Tolaga Bay, the Atkins whānau saddle up and prepare for the region's horse sports event. McCormick talks forestry with fourth-generation farmer and poet Graeme Williams and watches the sun rise over sacred Mt Hikurangi. In Ruatōria, McCormick discusses community conflicts with a Māori Rastafarian group and, at show day, reveals a talent for picking prize-winning sheep.
