Where your argument falls down imo, is that there was no fingerprint on the trigger from Robin Bain who apparently shot himself??
Robin Bain's (father) body was found without gloves or anything covering his fingers, so the idea that Robin Bain shot himself and leave no fingerprints on the trigger of the gun in question is a touch baffling if that’s what actually happened.

Dr Alec Dempster, the pathologist:

He described the entry wound to Robin Bain as being 4mm in diameter surrounded by a ring of soot up to 10 mm in diameter.
"This indicates to me that this is a contact wound where the muzzle of the gun has been held in direct contact with the skin of the deceased."

This was the first and only direct observation of the left temple of Robin Bain, so he was not shot from a distance by David concealed by a curtain. He shot himself.
