Stripped of freedom and thrown on cattle trains, the three Holocaust survivors in this documentary remember it all too well. Interviewed by Kim Hill, Fred Silberstein, Hanka Pressburg and Roma Hermann describe their experiences in concentration camps during World War ll. Moved around between Germany and Poland, all three were prisoners at Auschwitz at some point during the Nazi reign. They describe torturous conditions, and Fred recalls an experiment performed on him by the infamous 'Angel of Death', Josef Mengele. The National Film Unit documentary was made for the Council of Jewish Women of NZ.

It smelled, it stung because we were shaven, and the shaving was not done by professional people, it was done by people in a hurry. They cut you, they nicked you.– Survivor Fred Silberstein discusses arriving at Auschwitz
