Intrepid Journeys - Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay (Judy Bailey)

Beloved newsreader Judy Bailey was only a few years away from the news desk when she filmed this episode of Intrepid Journeys, and she relates the experience of "being in the field" with her years behind the desk. It's an epic trip, with Bailey visiting three South American countries in 17 days. With a jam-packed itinerary, she visits Rio de Janeiro's slums, hikes to Lopes Mendes beach, glides down a waterfall, learns capoeira and works on a farm in Uruguay. Bailey is everything you'd expect from a woman nicknamed "Mother of the Nation"; brave, warm and positive, with a great sense of adventure. 

It's just beautiful — a little old Portuguese settlement. It looks as though Ernest Hemingway could be just around the corner.
