TV presenter Mary Lambie heads to Iran during the holy month of Ramadan for this episode of Intrepid Journeys. While locals are welcoming, Lambie struggles with the patriarchal society and cultural expectations of women. First stop after bustling capital city Tehran is Masuleh, where a rock-hard mattress and constant calls to prayer tires her out. Lambie hits the desert and reaches hysteria trying to find a nomad wedding, which ends up going for three days. But it's not all fun and games when Lambie runs in high temperatures wearing a hijab training for the upcoming New York Marathon.
