Kaleidoscope - Beyond Reasonable Doubt
Television (Full Length) – 1980
Reporter Bernard McLaughlin visits the set of the 1980 movie about New Zealand’s "most controversial murder” — the killings of Jeanette and Harvey Crewe. Two scenes are shown being prepared: an exterior tracking shot involving lead actor David Hemmings, and a courtroom interrogation by Ian Watkin. In part two, Arthur Allan Thomas — recently freed from nine years in prison, after being convicted of murdering the Crewes — watches his own trial being recreated. Elsewhere, producer John Barnett discusses how the script was extensively checked by lawyers before being approved. Read more about the film here.
