Todd Karehana is worried about his 66- year-old Mum, Alma. Each night she returns to their old family home to feed a couple of stray cats. In this highly personal short documentary, Karehana films his interactions with his mother as he helps her prepare cat food and perform her nightly ritual, hoping to uncover why this act is important to her. As they chat about cats a defining grief is touched upon, and both come to a gentle understanding. Director Todd Karehana has directed short films and was a writer for Māori TV series Ahikāroa. Producer Samantha Dutton's credits include short films Green and the Sundance-nominated Breathe.
