Chunli Li moved to New Zealand from China in 1987. At age 20, she'd won a Chinese national title. After making the move south, she represented New Zealand in table tennis at the world championships, the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics. This short Loading Docs documentary sees the 58-year-old Li still aiming to win her elusive gold medal at the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. Then she has to deal with the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown, the postponement of the games in Tokyo, and a robbery. Luckily the burglars left one of her most prized possessions behind.
To celebrate New Zealand's healthy victory I will treat everyone tonight to play for free!– Chunli Li, on celebrating the end of New Zealand's national lockdown
