Conceived by beloved author Margaret Mahy, this children's post-apocalyptic fantasy series follows a circus troupe on their quest to save the city of Solis. A young Rose McIver (future star of American show iZombie) leads the cast, acting with a caravan of Kiwi veterans. Māori elements are part of this ‘solarpunk’ rendering of the future. In the jam-packed debut episode, the troupe learns of their mission to save their home from ruin, Garland (McIver) contends with a family tragedy and a mysterious pair of boys appear, struggling to care for a baby. This backgrounder details the show's making and success.
