I could be mistaken but I think the bar has been significantly raised in recent years for the 'beyond reasonable doubt' jury verdict. I find it hard to believe Watson would be found guilty if it went to a retrial. Did he do it? Maybe, but he's sure as hell not guilty beyond reasonable doubt.

There are great similarities between this case and The Amanda Knox convictions. In that one though the maturity of the Italian justice system eventually allowed the verdict to be overturned. Unfortunately the humility in New Zealand isn't there and the fear of the doubts this would cast on historical forensic evidence means that justice will not be served.

Hang on .. he was convicted by a jury who heard all the admissible evidence and found Watson guilty beyond reasonable doubt. Unless you have considered the evidence to the same degree as the jury, then you're not properly able to comment .. as for whether this documentary is suddenly able to prove something the Defense team couldn't, I doubt it.

My goodness what an appalling thing this is. Why has nothing been done to help this poor guy

Of course Scott Watson is innocent, not one shred of convincing evidence. More police corruption. Get the case to suit the accused instead of vice versa!!

Free Scott Watson!!!! Enough's enough, where was the 'beyond reasonable doubt' - how could the jury ever make sense of the miles of mixed up messages they were presented with. Don't the media know they were used as a 'paint brush' wonder how many are still proud of their reporting from back then....

It is now a decade later - 2013! Scott Watson is still in prison for a crime which Keith Hunter's meticulous documentary shows he could not have committed. This is a shameful episode in our judicial and police investigation history. If NZ had an independent Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) as England Scotland and Canada do - every aspect of this case would have been investigated and Scott Watson would have been found innocent long ago.
