In the second episode of this continuation of the classic 1970s kids series, "wild, colonial lass" Vicky Denning (Amber McWilliams) is preparing to leave England. Her beloved horse Black Beauty will stay with stepmother Jenny (Stacy Dorning). The pair receive word that Vicky's father's ship has gone missing near Singapore. The second half of the episode is set in the South Island. Vicky and Jenny find their farmhouse badly neglected and an eccentric boy named Manfred living in their barn. A letter from England breaks bad news about Black Beauty, and a wild storm attracts a new horse into their lives.
