In March 2020, the New Zealand Police launched the NZ Creative Genius promotion aimed at creating fun online content, to spread key safety messages in Aotearoa's fight against Covid-19. These shorts were among the 60+ winners. The first, from Robyn Paterson, will be familiar to those working from home during lockdown: a Zoom meeting fail with baby juggling and a mute button victim. The second, from Adrian Hooke, parodies Police Ten 7, with sock puppet cops busting up an illegal house party. The last is a musical compilation of uplifting messages and creativity from household bubbles across Aotearoa.
We are embracing the brilliance of our creative industry and bring to you the NZ Creative Genius series of videos produced by talented people from around the country. This is not an easy time. Let's get through it with humour, grace, empathy and a bit of Kiwi ingenuity. We are all in this together.– Facebook message from the New Zealand Police, on the launch of the first NZ Creative Genius video, 6 April 2020
