Peter Rowley and Pio Terei shared a Best Performance Award for this 1990s sketch comedy series. While Rowley is a veteran comedian known for The Billy T James Show, this was Terei’s first lead television role (followed by his own series, Pio!). Each episode opens with a stand-up double act performed to a studio audience, and closes with a song led by Terei. In the complete first episode and excerpts, the duo poke fun at racial stereotypes and well known adverts. Aotearoa is often the butt of the joke, with sketches including talking sheep, a tourism ad for Māngere, and an Australian smack-talking Kiwis.
Tim Shadbolt, Simon Barnett — as soon as they get more than 20 people who know your name, you have to do a cheese ad.– Peter Rowley on the perils of fame, in episode five
