Police College sees everyday Kiwis quit their day jobs to get better work stories. Looking to eventually make the cut and join the force, cadets head to the Royal New Zealand Police College in Porirua and start the gruelling, information-overloading 19-week-long training. In this first episode, recruits Klaus, John and Rachel try to find their feet as they work through the first week at the college, described by a senior trainee as '10 times worse than an army camp'. The trio mingle with their fellow recruits, swiftly learn the do's and don'ts, get fitted for their new blue threads and get thrown in the deep end of a real murder inquiry.
At all times, while you're here at the college, you are being watched. So, you're being watched while you're at your meal room. You're being watched as you socialise in the bar. You're being watched as you go up and down the stairs. You're being listened to. So, at all times, you need to act professionally. And this is a start to your policing career, because we are watched at all times.– Sergeant Robyn Best lays down the law at the lecture theatre
