Great to see my 56 F100 tow truck again. Cool old truck, powered then with a bigblock international V8. Did about 4 miles to gallon

And by the way in the 70's Rob Muldoon and his cabinet came down to Beaumont Street in their Tucks to see what all the fuss was about, did they get a show, quarter mile drags, burnouts and we weren't all hoods just v8 enthusiasts, hoods couldn't afford the cars we had, we owned Beaumont Street and Herne Bay. I am definitely going to right an American Pie version of Auckland...watch this space

Wow seeing glimpses of Queen Street really bought back some special memories of a time when V8's ruled, I wish you had of got Beaumont Street in there, I could right a book about this era. we were the original V8 boys from Pt Chev with 22 american cars in the group from Police specials to the first turbo charged street v8 (Dodge Charger 383ci) including a 46 Jail Bar with a 392 hemi Blown sitting on a monaro chassis, nothing could touch this truck called (ODD JOB)my brother inlaw had a red 69 Ford Mercury Cyclone with 28'' feet on the back, a real head turner, I'll never forget the looks we got AWESOME time.... my car first v8 was a mark4 Zepher with a 351 windsor it was high geared so from lights lights it was so quick and I can remember hitting 100miles an hour starting from the top of Queen Street to the bottom racing a 2door impala (we caught every light) and yes I won, he ran the red light on Queen and Custom haha

This film although at the the time most of us who were crusing Queen Street back then thought the story was crap. looking back now I see it as a national treasure it caught the end of an era, a time when after 10pm on a friday we owned the town, it was a cool time to be alive. It will never come again, mabye thats how its meant to be.
PS Did you know that travel agents at that time listed Queen Street on a Friday or Sturday night was a must see "like a scene from American graffiti" it was stated.
Thanks for putting this out there

Man, the acting is bad lol. Didn't see the Family & Naval on K' Rd. Still there today. Cherry sirens haha. The cars aer fricken old. Man $20 was a lot.

In Mk 2 I saw a Busker I really used to see on the sts.

Who woulda thought Falcon 500's would disappear.

That chik's baby would be 30 now.

Awesome to see the images of Auckland before the '80s building boom changed it all forever - Keans for Jeans, Lewis Eady, Nathans, railway tracks across Quay Street, Tepid Baths without the overbridge, the Viaduct Harbour without restaurants and chardonnay. Queen St full of hoods in big bangers - before we decided to call them Boy Racers and ban them for good. Cops in Falcons. Brilliant. What a piece of history.
