Short film Remote New World extends the challenges of living in lockdown during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic into an even more worrying future. Kathleen Winter and Emma Cullen's winning 2020 ShoeString Film Challenge entry follows a woman (played by Cullen), who struggles in a world where the government keeps tabs on everyone's movements. The ShoeString Challenge was born in 2010 as a theatre contest; entrants were given a month to create a play for $20. In 2020 the challenge went online — this time the mission was to create a short film.
